Part 5- Social Support
March 11th, 2008 · Filed Under: Fat Loss Mindset · Fat Loss Nutrition · Fat Loss Workouts
Hi everyone! I hope that I was able to clarify the debate over HIIT training vs. long duration cardio for you in my last blog post. Remember, just do what you love to do for cardio!

No matter what it is you are trying to achieve in life, it is so important to surround yourself with like-minded people that are going to encourage you along the way. So this means getting a training partner if you need to. Try to meet new people at the gym that are interested in the healthy lifestyle. Just surround yourself with those people that are NOT going to sabotage your efforts but support you along this fantastic journey towards a better lifestyle.
We are such a busy, more secluded society today that sometimes it really is hard to meet new people. Possibly you have had some success at meeting like-minded people in your own community and you would like to share your stories with us.
I have a client that recently went back to work. She is trying to shed her baby fat that she gained from her second child. When she returned she was asked to join the ‘treat club’…
She declined and said she was trying to eat healthy. This person kept asking her day after day to join the club and why didn’t she want to and that she could still eat healthy at home…blah, blah, blah…she finally stopped bothering my client after a few days. However, it just shows that you really do need a good support system when it comes to healthy eating. There are so many people that want you to be like they are. When you are not in their ‘group’ it’s like they are personally insulted. This is so wrong!
You can even start your own group, whether that be a ‘walking club’ or ‘biking club’…just as long as you are together and supporting one another’s accomplishments.
Scott and I are starting a ‘walking club’ on every Saturday here in our small community of Belle River. We are really trying to get the message out there that we need to put an end to the ‘obesity epidemic’ going on. This will be a time that people can walk and share their stories. They will all be there with a common theme: to get healthy. We hope that many friendships are formed. We hope that more and more people will show up each week. We hope to create a group so large that its effects will only snowball to other communities, cities, and eventually make an impact on a global level.
Have a great day!
Cheers to health,
Angie
